Why Choose China

Advanced Technologies & Achievements

A Chinese team has pioneered the globally innovative 2-micron (thulium) laser enucleation of the prostate (ThuLEP) for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This team has completed clinical cases for 360 patients, with 40 institutions visiting for observational learning, and has performed 2,036 surgeries.

In addition, the team was among the first in China to carry out laparoscopic radical prostatectomy for treating prostate cancer successfully. They also led the country in implementing minimally invasive ultrasound-guided percutaneous nephrolithotomy with holmium laser and pneumatic lithotripsy for complex renal stones, achieving excellent clinical outcomes. This technique causes less trauma compared to the international minimally invasive standard (nephrostomy tract diameter F24-26, approximately 10mm).

Experienced Doctors

According to the data, in 2022, there will be about 134,000 new cases of prostate cancer and 47,500 deaths, which is a serious threat to the quality of life and physical and mental health of the male population in China.

On 24 November 2014, Professor Xia performed the world’s first ‘Thulium Laser Orange Peeling Prostatectomy’ on a then 70-year-old patient suffering from prostate enlargement. In 2023, the Opera Reach Single Hole Surgical Robot successfully completed the nation’s first transcystic radical prostate cancer surgery.
