In 2022, at 31 years old, my life hit rock bottom—my facial chondrosarcoma had recurred. I had tried radiotherapy and chemotherapy before, but neither worked, and the tumor kept growing. The doctor said that another surgery would most likely leave me disfigured, which was a devastating blow. As the tumor progressed rapidly, even eating and speaking became extremely difficult, and the sense of despair almost overwhelmed me. Just when I was about to give up, I learned that Humanity Hospital was conducting a clinical study on BNCT treatment, a new therapy I had never heard of. Holding onto the last glimmer of hope, I came here. In October 2022, I received my first BNCT irradiation. Unexpectedly, the effect came so quickly—shortly after the treatment, I felt the lump on my face shrink by a third. I gradually regained the ability to eat normally, and my spirits lifted a lot. That feeling of being reborn was truly indescribable. After the second irradiation, the lump on my face disappeared completely. I could finally communicate and eat like a normal person, and my life slowly returned to track. Until now, after so many years, the tumor has been well-controlled, and my quality of life remains stable. I am really grateful for choosing BNCT back then—it gave me a second chance at life.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with recurrent facial mesenchymal chondrosarcoma—radiotherapy and chemotherapy had failed, and reoperation carried a disfigurement risk—so I opted to participate in the BNCT clinical study at Humanity Hospital. I received the first BNCT irradiation in October 2022, using Neuboron Medtech’s self-developed “NeuPEX” accelerator-based BNCT system, “NeuMANTA” treatment planning software, and domestic integrated diagnosis and treatment boron drugs (BPA and 18F-BPA), followed by a second irradiation to complete the full treatment. After treatment, my tumor continued to shrink with a 45.8% reduction in maximum diameter (achieving partial response, PR), and over 500 days of follow-up, my primary tumor remained effectively controlled with a stable quality of life.
