Expertise

Dr. Hou specializes in the diagnosis and personalized treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, excelling in targeted therapy, cellular immunotherapy, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for hematologic malignancies. Dr. Hou has achieved internationally advanced levels in managing plasma cell diseases, particularly multiple myeloma. Dr. Hou implements dual CAR-T therapy (CD19 and BCMA), achieving significant improvements in complex cases. Dr. Hou also specializes in autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, combining precision targeting and immunotherapy to markedly enhance treatment efficacy and patient survival.

Professional Background

Dr. Hou is a leading expert in hematology with over 30 years of experience focusing on plasma cell disorders, especially multiple myeloma. He served as the principal investigator for two of the three myeloma-targeted drugs approved in China. As a key member of global clinical trials, his research contributed critically to the US and EU approvals of the anti-myeloma drugs Pomalidomide and Ixazomib. He has also participated in developing international guidelines and delivered keynote speeches at the International Myeloma Conference, earning him the title “Mr. Myeloma of China.” Dr. Hou has published over 50 findings in top journals including Lancet Oncology, Nature Communications, Blood, and JCO. He pioneered BCMA CAR-T therapy for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma.
